There must be a way to beat this guy, I wont loose, not after all of our battles, Sora thought.  They had never fought a nobody this strong before.  Not even Xamnas was this strong, indeed not even Sephiroth.  Who was he when he was a somebody, Sora didn’t know.

He was still standing, barely.  His knees were shaking with the effort, all of his strength nearly all spent.  All of his magic was gone too, it would take some time to replenish itself, time none of them had.

Riku was laying unconscious in Kairi’s arms.  He had taken a sever blow.  Not even his darkness had proven enough to help Sora defeat him.  Now he was on the brink of death.

Kairi was desperately trying to heal him with her magic.  She was keeping him alive and barely healing his injuries with each spell she cast.  She needed time to replenish her magic to cast a stronger healing spell.  Time she couldn’t take.

The nobody didn’t leave them a second to rest or to think. He was even now advancing on Sora with all the confidence of the victor.  A big and cruel smile etched on his face.  In his eyes, Sora could see the bare hatred and anger burning strong.  This nobody was nothing like the others he had fought before.  Not Demix, not Axel, and certainly not like Roxas, his own nobody.

Roxas!

Maybe it was possible to awaken him, although Sora had often tried and failed.  Maybe with both of Sora’s light and darkness working together, it would be possible to beat this guy.  At the moment, it was the only thing Sora could think of, after all, Roxas vanquished Riku once.

With one last look at the nobody who was slowly walking towards him, Sora closed his eyes.  At that moment, he heard the low laughter full of savage glee of his opponent.  No doubt he was thinking Sora was giving up.  He was wrong.

Sora search within himself for the tiny bit of darkness he had found before, and gave it a pretty good kick in the pants.  At that moment, he felt himself falling, falling.  He knew that sensation, it had happen once or twice in his life before.  He was diving for the center of his heart.  A few moments later, his feet touched the ground.  Then, a glowing round mosaic appeared: himself seated with eyes open wearing the cloths the King’s fairies gave him, all of his friends were in it too, Riku, Kairi, Donald and goofy.  Something was different this time, in the mosaic, opposite to himself was Roxas wearing dark pants with pale over pants plus a white jacket, eyes closed and near Kairi’s image, there was Namine’s too, and, in the far corner, Axel.  Although, Axel’s image wasn’t glowing at all unlike the others, it was dark and lifeless.

Sora ran to the center and stared at the image of Roxas.  He didn’t know what to do.  Roxas was clearly sleeping inside of him, but how could he wake him up?  In desperation, he yelled Roxas name as loud as he could putting all of his remaining strength in his cry.  Nothing happened.  With tears in his eyes he fell to his knees, not knowing what else to do.  While Sora was on his knees, crying and looking nowhere, in the mosaic, Roxas slowly opened his eyes.

The first thing he felt was how weak and beaten Sora was.  He felt Sora’s strength going out, his panic, his fear, his guilt, guilt that he wasn’t strong enough to beat his enemy and protect his friends, protect the worlds.

It was the first time Sora truly reached out to him, at other time he did came close to awaken him but his calls had not been strong enough.  It seems that now Sora had made his voice heard.  Roxas body slowly materialized in front of Sora.

Slowly Roxas reached out to Sora.  He could also feel how much the others were exhausted.  Riku was hanging on, his will stubbornly refusing to let go.  Kairi… and… Namine? Doing everything in their power to heal and help Riku.  But, they were at the end of their strength as well.  Finally he felt the overwhelming darkness of the one Sora was fighting.  It made Roxas breath catch in his throat.  They had survived this long against a being like this one.  No wonder they were exhausted and losing the battle.

When Roxas’s hand landed lightly on his somebody, Sora eyes come to focus and his head snapped forward looking directly into Roxas blue eyes.  When their eyes connected, Sora stopped crying.  He then slowly got back on his feet.

Now I have a chance, I awaken him, after all this time, I finally succeeding in awakening my other half, my dark half, Sora thought. “I need your help with this one, we all do.” simply said Sora.
“I can feel that.  But why the hell did you take so long before you though of me? I mean this darkness makes even me shake.  Has you are now, I am not sure the two of us will be enough.”  answered Roxas, a small smile on his lips.
Sora lowered his head a little.  “I am sorry.  I tried before; I seriously tried before to awaken you.  I know next to nothing of you and yet you are a part of me.  But somehow I couldn’t come to this place, the center of my heart.  Maybe I wasn’t kicking you hard enough or maybe I wasn’t desperate enough.  I don’t know.  I am sorry” Sora said with a sheepish look on his face.  He had truly tried before, Roxas knew.  He had felt every one of his tries.  But not one had made him budge.  “It will be enough.  The two of us working together, It will be enough.  I believe it will be enough.  It has to be enough.  I won’t loose, with you I won’t loose” Sora then replied while raising his head to once more meet Roxas eyes, a very determined look in his eyes.

Roxas smiled.” Let do this then, we will talk some more later.  For now, we have our butts to save along with the lives of our friends.”

They both summoned their keyblades; OathKeeper and Oblivion for Roxas and the kingdom Keybalde for Sora.

The nobody marched slowly towards Sora, he was taking his time.  Sora, the chosen bearer of the keyblade was beaten, he had given up.  This almost frustrated the nobody.  After all, the others told him how this boy defended time and again Kingdom hearts and every time he had won his battles.  He thought Sora would have been stronger; it seems he had been mistaking.   After dealing with Sora, he would finish off Riku and the girl.  The girl was just a passing thought, she was no threat to him at all, and indeed she couldn’t even fight properly with her keyblade.

When he arrived in front of Sora, he lifted his winged blade to strike the final blow.  As the weapon was landing, Sora began to slowly glow a dark purple.  The glow and the nobody’s weapon impacted, and sparks flew.  The impact was so strong that both Sora and the nobody got thrown away form one an other.  When the nobody regain his balance, his head snapped up to see what had happen.

Sora’s glow was stronger now and getting brighter with each passing moments.  After a blinding flash the glow finally subsided.  Sora was nowhere to be seen, in his place stood another boy; blond, blue eyed boy holding two keyblades.  Kairi audibly gasped, her month forming one word: Roxas.  Riku lifted his head to look at what had caused such a flash.  Upon seeing Roxas, his eyes grew to the size of plates. “He did it, he finally managed to get to him” he softly spoke.  “Now perhaps we have a chance. Darkness against darkness.  No. Not exactly what I tried to do before.  This time around, light and dark working together to defeat something that threatens both.”   Riku got slowly on his feet, aided by Kairi.  Kairi then too began to glow, and switched to Namine’s form.  “I want to help him”, she said “both of them.” Yeah, answered back Riku, “lets go”.  They slowly started to walk towards Roxas.  With each step, their strength and magic were coming back.

Upon fully taking his place, Roxas looked over at his friends.  Riku was able to stand with difficulty.  He was slowly walking towards him, strength slowly returning.  His gaze showed nothing but absolute resolve to win this thing.  His pants were a deep blue with added on pockets of a deep purple color.  His pockets had a red and silver design on them resembling the shape of his keychain.  As usual, his inner vest was black.  But, his outer vest was a deep midnight blue lined in deep purple.  On the vest was a red and silver winged heart.  Was this his new outfit while he immersed himself in darkness?  “Seems like he forgot to tell me his cloths became like mine, able to change shape depending on what powers he pulled upon” whispered Sora in his mind. “ at least he remains himself while cloak in darkness, that is a big relief” Sora continued.  “we should ask him and the king when this is all over” he concluded.  And then resume his silent vigil over Roxas.  Sora was linking his wounds, gaining his strength back with each passing second.

But what surprise him the most was… Namine..?  He had clearly felt Kairi back within Sora.  But now Namine stood in her stead wearing a modified version of her white dress she wore before.  Her dress seemed to be a mix between Kairi pink dress and her simple white gown.  But as he looked deeply at her, he saw Kairi within her as well.  Both were awake and aware.  What amazed him was how well blended they were and yet at the same time independent from one another, unlike Sora and himself at the moment.  Maybe eventually they would mesh like them and yet retain their own self at the same time.

Only one thing left before resuming the fight:  “HEAL” shouted Roxas.  AS the sound echo in the street, deep green sparkled around all three of them delivering blessed life the Namine’s and Riku’s body.  Perhaps the fact that she had been awake during fight and himself was asleep was the reason why he was at full strength and she was as weak as Kairi.

The black haired nobody couldn’t believe his eyes, the Keybearer had changed forms. He had become his nobody, Roxas.  He knew that person only by name:  Roxas, number 13 in the Organization, the key of destiny.  No one thought he had survived.  How was such a thing possible!?

“You should have struck me down when I was daydreaming.  Now your chance has passed” said Roxas, bringing his keyblades to bear.  He rushed forward towards the black haired man.  And at the last possible second, Roxas reverse his momentum to spin beside his opponent to go strike at his back.  The impact had been strong but it had been partially deflected by his enemy’s dark shield.  Nevertheless, the nobody grunted loudly upon receiving the blow.  At the sound, Roxas smiled savagely.

When Roxas charged forward, Riku started sprinted towards his enemy, very much decided not to be outdone by the smaller nobody.  When he reached the man who almost killed him, a second after Roxas, he jumped straight up and twisted in midair to fire dark energies towards the black haired nobody.   The spell caught the black clad men square on the chest.  He howled in pain, making Riku smile in the process.  They were not dead, far from it.

On the heels of Riku’s attack, the lethal nobody positioned his shield to protect himself against both warriors, while preparing an attack of his own.  When Roxas jumped towards Riku to make a combined attack, he hit his enemies shield and was sent tumbling away from his prey.  He was a little bit dazed because the shield had given him a shock in the process.  As Riku came down he saw what had happen to his nobody friend, he contorted in midair to avoid falling on his enemy, unfortunately, he didn’t managed to get far enough away to escape the shocking shield.  So he too got shocked away from his enemy.

When Riku charged ahead, Naminee willed her drawing pad into existence, replacing the flowery keyblade in her hands.  She had no skill to fight with a sword, her weapon was her drawings.  The only problem was she only could affect the memories of those close to Sora or Roxas.  The only link between their enemy and either of the warriors was that Roxas and their enemy were both nobodies, the connection was very weak, but it was the only thing she could work with.

When his preparation were complete, the black haired nobody unleashed one of his most powerful attacks, while at the same time he directed his shield to capture Roxas.  Roxas was still dazed by the time the shield was on him.  The spell came toward him fast and he was unable to move a muscle.  He saw the dark lances of energy hurling toward him and there was nothing he could do about it.  At the last possible second Riku jumped in front of him and cast his own dark shield.  He managed to absorb a good part of the spell, but it was so powerful that it broke through his shield, hitting both Riku and Roxas.  If Roxas had been hit by the full blow, he would have been vaporized.  As things stood, Riku was in a bad shape again, and so was he.

After unleashing his spell, the stranger looked at what it had ripped and smiled.  He only had to buy a little more time and cast again for this to be finished.  Suddenly he felt a small pull at the back of his mind.   He closed his eyes for a second to examine what was happening, he recognized this type of touch, one of his team mates had the same power.  The touch was subtle and femine: the girl!

He suddenly turned and ran towards Naminee.  When his eyes locked into hers, he knew she was a nobody like him, indeed like the blond boy too.  So, another one had survived, he would have to ask answer out of his team mates, this was starting to annoy him more then a little.  The question that made his way into his made for a split second was why were they siding with the somebodies?  No matter, they clearly were his enemy, and as such, they had to be killed, period.  She was only an annoyance, but she was leaving an itch in his mind he couldn’t ignore.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOo  screamed Sora in Roxas’s mind.  Roxas and Riku were still slightly off balanced from the last attack, Sora realized.  Riku was already running full tilt toward Naminee followed closely by Roxas but they would not make it in time.  Naminee, and Kairi didn’t know how to fight well, and against a direct attack, they were all but defenseless.  Sora had to do something and fast.  He focused all of his will and heart to be the shield of his friends.

When the dark eyed black haired nobody arrived in front of the helpless and terrorized girl, the he swung his massive sword towards her, intending to finish her in one blow.  But again, he was thwarted by a shimmering light, light that condensed to form a ghostly Sora holding in front of him Oathkeeper and Oblivion.  The two keyblades blocked the weapon, but not the energy of the attack.  Naminee took the full magical hit.  The three friends heard her cry of intense pain.  When it ended, she fell to the floor.  A tear escaped Sora’s eyes.  But unfortunately, he couldn’t maintained his form, being out of one’s body was taking much out of him, and Roxas and Riku were upon him now.  They could take care of things.

AS he ran towards Naminee, Roxas suddenly felt a big tug inside his heart, or Sora’s heart and suddenly he felt alone and small.  Sora was nowhere to be felt.  He stumbled as he ran because of the emptiness where his heart had been.  He felt a big hole in his chest.  At the same time this was happening, his two keyblades vanished from his hands.   Surprised and bewildered, he slowed his running and looked towards Naminee.  There stood his somebody holding his keyblades protecting her.  Upon seeing this, he resumed his sprint with more desperation.  It was apparent Sora would not be able to stay and shield the girls a long time, ghostly sweat could almost be seen on his face.  He did not have a body right now, Roxas had it.  The keyblades were floating at the ends of his hands.  Unfortunately, Sora’s body wasn’t there to block the bluish black energy running up the giant blade of there enemy.  The energy jumped from the blade, passed right through Sora ghostly form and hit Naminee.   Her scream of pain pierced the air.    Then Sora looked at him, a tear in his eyes, a hard look in his eyes.  Roxas understood the message:  get your sorry ass over here right now.  Then Sora disappeared and the two keyblades clanged on the floor before vanishing in shimmering sparkles of light.

When Sora and the keyblades disappeared, Roxas put on a burst of speed, passing Riku to charge straight at the one who struck his friend down, his eyes held cold fury.  Sora was back with him, he recalled his two keyblades to his hands and struck his enemy with all of his and Sora’s strength, Oblivion glowing bluish black and Oathkeeper glowing brightly.  He struck him first with oblivion then Oathkeeper; reversed his momentum, aimed for the back.  He then jumped up and struck at his enemy’s head, then upon coming down, he swing for the legs of his enemy.

Riku reached Naminee not long after Roxas engaged the tall black eyed nobody.  He took a potion out of his jacket and made Naminee swallow it.  He couldnt heal, unlike Roxas and Sora, so he carried healing items instead.  They were less efficient, but they did the job.  Naminee was barely breathing but with the potion she managed to open her eyes and gazed with an apology in her eyes at Riku.  “I am sorry” she whispered “we are no good in fights” Riku looked at her and hugged her while whispering back “don’t apologize, we will train the both of you when this is finish, you will grow stronger then all of us you’ll see.”  She laughed at that, yes she needed some training they both decided.  Before all this adventure began, Kairi had been on par with Sora, but now they had left her in their dust.  She had to cash up to them now.  “Stay here and rest, Kairi, Naminee.  The three of us will handle him.” said Riku.  She was out of danger for now.  They had to beat this guy before he remembered the girl.  Riku swore under his breath that no more harm would come to his childhood friend.  He loved Kairi and by extension Naminee like a little sister and no one would her again.  He then ran full tilt toward Roxas and their enemy, a deadly look in his eyes.  The darkness was now swirling lazily around him, he had to be careful of that.

The big nobody was parrying almost every attack Roxas lunched.  And those he didn’t parry, he dodged, all the while succeeding over and over again and penetrating Roxas guard and giving him deep wounds.  Riku then charged ahead, synchronizing his attack to fill in the gasp Roxas couldn’t cover.  At this, the big nobody reactivated his shield and started to jump from place to place to escape the combined attack.  He always jumped to take advantage of holes he saw in the teens guards, again and gain, inflicting grievous wounds to both of them.  At one point, Roxas backed off a little and yelled again: HEAL!.  His magic was running low again.

The big nobody smiled, so they had healed themselves, no matter, he could recast again now.  He directed his attacks to position the two boys so they stood between himself and the girl.  He then instructed his shield to capture both teens.  After a couple of dodges and rolls from the teens, the shield accomplished its mission.  Now both teens were properly immobilized, and the girl was still too weak to move or do anything for that matter.  The dices were cast.

Riku was angry and frustrated, how could he get trapped like this.  Roxas was scared and angry at the same time.  He looked back towards Naminee, his eyes conveying his fear and guilt.  If someone didn’t do anything, they were would all be fried to a crisp.  They both struggles mightily, while their enemy laughed with a cruel took in his eyes.

The only one, who was not bound or too wounded to do anything, was Sora.  What could he do?  If he switched places with Roxas he too would probably be bound…. Trying to manifest himself without a body, there was next to nothing he would be able to do and beside he would only exhaust himself for nothing.  Suddenly he thought of something, his cloths could change shape.  He wondered if it would work even if he wasn’t in control of his body.  He decided that he had nothing to lose and besides, it took a split second to occur, if it didn’t work, he could always switch places with Roxas, and then summon his drive.

Roxas could feel that Sora was going to try something, although he didn’t know what it would be.  In a split second, he saw Riku disappeared from his side.   He suddenly felt overflowing strength in himself, and, in a burst of light, his clothing changed.   At that moment, the shield shattered and then, he was free.  His over pants were black, while his pants were brilliant silver.  He still had his black under vest, but his over coat was now mostly silver.  On his over pants and over coat, black swirling designs were drawn, silver for his over pants and black for his over coat.  He held in his hands Oblivion and Way to Dawn, and floating in his back was Oathkeeper and Kairi's flower keyblade.  When his feet touched the ground, swirls of darkness surrounded him.  This drive had been made mostly from the darkness after all, Riku in his dark form, Roxas and Naminee.

Inside his heart he could feel arrayed in a semi-circle around him Sora, Riku, Kairi and Naminee.  Roxas was at the front, while Sora was directly behind him right beside Kairi.  Naminee and Riku were on each side of the pair.  But there was also a tiny bit of darkness growing bigger by the moment holding the rear, behind Sora and Kairi.  He knew that darkness, he knew it so well:  Axel.  He could feel at the center of his heart, on the mosaic, the image of Axel beginning to glow until it glowed almost as much as the others.  He suddenly heard in his mind:  Long time no see partner.  As the phrase died in his mind, lazy red flames began to burn around him, twirling around the darkness.  “Let’s end this” whispered Roxas, his head snapping to his enemy.

Again, the big nobody was thwarted in his attempted to kill his enemies.  “What did they do now?”, he wondered.  When Roxas was visible again, he had changed.  In Roxas’s eyes, he could see pure confidence and savage determination.  But what surprised him the most was the flames and darkness swirling around him; this could indeed shield him very well.  But, this was only a small annoyance, nothing more.  By shear strength, he knew he could overwhelm the smaller nobody easily.  At that moment, Roxas rushed toward him.  In the blink of an eye, he was all over him.  He was so much faster then before.  And, his eyes were colder too.  But, the big nobody had a couple tricks left in his sleeve. He parried much of the hits Roxas were lunching at him.  But, unlike before he got hit more and more often.  He tried summoning his shield, but it got broken easily through by the teen.  His strength got a gigantic boost as well.  Suddenly he saw his opening; he fired a barrage of dark energy lances toward the teen, who got pushed back while parrying.  He thought his spell could not miss, but at the last possible instant, Roxas summoned a dark portal and jumped in.

When Roxas arrived in front of his pray, he aimed Oblivion towards the big nobody’s head while aiming at the torso with Way to Dawn.  He pursued his prey at every step it took.  He executed a double a double reverse to aim for his legs.  Every second hit was connecting solidly with his enemy.  He could see how much damage he was doing and it was satisfying.  But, he didn’t have a second to loose, because this drive wouldn’t last forever.  He relentlessly pursued his prey; making him back up step by step.  Until, the big nobody found a tiny opening and threw him away.  AS soon as he landed, he saw the spell hurling towards him.  Inside of his heart, Riku and Axel pulled their strength together and opened a portal for teen to take.  He stepped into the portal right after he lunched a spell of his own.  He used Axel flames to make lances of his own.  As he got out of the portal, he was right behind the big nobody.  He lunched a double attack.  His prey turned to meet it and got slamed in the back by Roxas’s spell.  The impact was so strong that it lunched him into the air.  Roxas jumped in pursuit, hammering his prey relentlessly.

When Roxas got back on the solid ground, his prey was smoldering and fading back into darkness. “You won’t survive us traitor.  I was but one of many, and I very nearly killed all of you.  You don’t stand a chance. Ahahahhahahha” said the Black eyed and black haired nobody. “You should at least know my name, Nexus” whispered the dying nobody.

When nothing was left of him, Roxas reverted back to himself.
